Albuquerque Meals on Wheels does not receive
state or federal funding so we must always be looking for new and innovative
funding sources.
We are so grateful to the many
individual donors, churches, businesses, and local agencies who continue
to provide much need funding and support and to our 400
volunteers who so selflessly give of their
valuable time - you truly are the "Angels" that our clients say you are.
In addition to the wonderful sources above, we
maintain a full agenda of Fund Raising activities and are always searching
for additional Grant sources. Our "March in March" pledge walk, the
Annual Direct Mail Program, our Annual Raffle, the new
Planned Giving Program, the
Wall of Hope and Caring, are just some of our
fundraising activities.
Collaborative grant programs with wonderful partners
such as United Way of Central New Mexico,
and
Roadrunner Food Bank, all provide
additional valuable funding and the interaction with such great people makes
it all so worthwhile.
Outreach Activities
We have also participated in a number of Outreach
activities that have been very rewarding. Some of these include: the
MOW Legislative and Community Leader's Breakfast, The Asbury Cafe,
Presbyterian Senior Care's Preferred Source program member receptions, the
2003
Governor's Hunger Summit, Presbyterian Healthcare's Senior Expo, Senator Dominici's Character Counts Children's project,
Palmer Meetings, Community Health Charities
recent Cookie Walk, and a number of church functions and other most
worthwhile projects.
We thank the many volunteers who have attended training,
and donated their time to man booths, hand out literature, make sandwiches,
and much more. We also offer a special thanks to John Palmer and AARP
for their support of MOW's Angel Box Program,
whereby some of our neediest client's receive non-perishable food to help
supplement the prepared meals provided by grants.
