  1. Regular/Heart Healthy Diet
    Complies with "Dietary Guidelines for Americans". Provides 1/3 of Recommended Daily Allowances for vitamins and minerals. Provides approximately 450 calories. For most older Americans. Helps to prevent vitamin and mineral deficiencies and is intended to lower risk of vascular disease (heart attack and stroke).

  2. Diabetic Diet
    To aid blood sugar control (along with regular exercise and medication) by slowing the rise of blood sugar and controlling weight.   Total of 4 servings from (in order of best to worst for blood sugar control) milk, starch & grain, fruit, dessert, fruit juice.  Substitutes sugar-free desserts for regular desserts.

  3. Soft/Bland Diet
    For those with certain gastrointestinal conditions (inflammation, spasms). Intended to decrease activity and irritation of the gastrointestinal tract and to improve food tolerance with nausea, vomiting or indigestion. Meal contains no raw fruit or vegetables, no bran, and no strong spices.

  4. Renal/Dialysis Diet
    For those with renal failure who are on dialysis. Aids in the maintenance of normal blood mineral levels. Contains no potato. Meal substitutes low protein milk substitute or calcium fortified juice for regular milk. Client may suffer calcium deficiency unless they receive calcium-fortified foods or supplements.

  5. Vegetarian Diet
    Two types of vegetarian diets, Lacto-ovo (no meat/poultry/fish, but dairy and eggs are ok), and Vegan (no animal products.) Concerns with this diet include the provision of adequate protein. Entree should include dairy, egg, legume, soy nuts, or seeds. Vegans also risk vitamin B-12 deficiency without supplementattion.

  6. Mechanical Soft Diet
    For those with chewing problems. Contains soft textured foods that are easy to chew and swallow. Contains no raw fruit or vegetables. Meats are chopped and moistened. This diet may include the need for thick liquids, and contains no milk or fruit juices unless thickened.

  7. Pureed Diet
    For those with more severe chewing or swallowing problems. The meal feeds with a blenderized consistency only. This diet may include the need for thick liquids, and contains no milk or fruit juices unless thickened.
