The Luckiest Homegrown Farm Boy in the South West
Meet Charlie Stoeltje. Charlie is 92 years young and hails from San Antonio, TX. Charlie is a veteran of World War II and Korea and also worked at UNM! Believe it or not he still lives in the house he built 55 years ago when he and his wife moved to Albuquerque.
Charlie has been receiving meals from Meals on Wheels for three months now and wished he heard about the meal delivery sooner. He really appreciates all the volunteers who help deliver the meal since he was a volunteer for the Albuquerque Garden Club for many years.
He claims his longevity is due to a good breakfast, eating one orange a day, and eating a well-balanced hot meal like those provided by Meals on Wheels of Albuquerque.
After reminiscing about his life a while, he remarked: “You know, I think I’m near the luckiest home grown farm boy in the southwest!”
