Meet Judy, avid volunteer and pastel artist.

Judy is an example of the Meals on Wheels of Albuquerque’s motto: “Any Age, Any Reason.”

She signed up for our home-delivered meals after joint replacement surgery. It was easiest for her to receive hot, freshly-prepared meals at her home since she couldn’t drive, and her usual support system was out of state for a few months.

Judy is a recently retired Albuquerque Public Schools teacher who grew up in Albuquerque. Now she spends most of her time volunteering at a Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center and painting landscape and pastel floral art pieces. She has had her paintings exhibited in the New Mexico Pastel Society’s juried Masterworks shows, as well as some regional shows throughout the Southwest. Judy is honored to be in these exclusive shows and by the public displays of her work. One of those locations is the New Mexico Cancer Center who displays her work along with other accomplished artists for the relaxation of patients receiving life-saving treatments.

Judy is anxious to get back to her daily activities outside the house and is thankful she is able to receive Meals on Wheels during her respite at home.

“If I didn’t have the meals from Meals on Wheels delivered during my time of rehabilitation after this surgery, I would really be in a tough spot to get food and good nutrition.”
